BACKGROUND

This 21st Century Community Learning Center is a partnership between the County and Gaston County LEA. The County will serve as the fiscal agent, and the LEA will be the implementing agency. The program will support students attending Woodhill Elementary School, a Title I school in Gaston County. The program will provide 150 slots in an after school program for K-5 students. The program addresses three specific areas of need that were identified through multiple data sources as critical elements to support students and their families: 1) academic performance in the classroom and EOG assessment performance; 2) a character education program to help students make better choices; and 3) family services that will offer parents educational and personal development opportunities that will assist them in supporting their children's academic and social development.
