BACKGROUND
Animal Care and Enforcement received donations FY22 which were used in purchasing new radios for the shelter. Once the purchase order was completed a balance of $15,513.47 remained. Approval of the carry forward for the remaining funds will pay for providing medical care and the purchasing of items needed for providing that care.
During the FY23 budget preparation the Gaston County Police Department requested various equipment purposes. The requested equipment was approved for purchasing using FY22 funds instead of FY23. Funds in account 1000-GPD-000-0000-000000-0000000-0000-02-540002 (Furn/Equip >$5,000) were not carried forward since funds had not been encumbered by the purchase order cut off. These funds are needed for the purchasing of a 2021 Yamaha boat motor (Marine Enforcement Unit) replacing the current motor that is unable to be repaired. This purchase is more of a repair/replacement instead of “new” equipment. Cost for the new motor is $25,975.00.
Animal Care and Enforcement and the Gaston County Police Department request these funds be carried forward to FY23.
