BACKGROUND
Replacement of the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office service weapons were approved with the adoption of the FY 2023 Budget Ordinance. A legal ad was posted in The Gazette on August 7, 2022 as an affirmative step to solicit bids. Also, bid requests were sent to four potential bidders.
Sealed bids were received and publicly opened on August 17, 2022 from three bidders (Craig’s Firearm Supply, GLOCK, North Gaston Gun Shop). North Gaston Gun Shop declined to bid due to time constraints and the inability to meet agency needs. Blackstone Shooting Sports is considered non-responsive as no bid was received by the deadline.
Craig’s Firearm Supply bid was accepted as the lowest, responsive bidder that met agency needs. Approval of this Board Action authorizes staff to proceed with the GLOCK Gen5 firearm purchase and trade-in of agency weapons.
