BUDGET ORDINANCE IMPACT

Increase Miscellaneous Revenue by $1,000 and appropriate $1,000 into Environmental Health program supplies account.

BACKGROUND

The Gaston County Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health Division received funds from NC Child.  Funds were awarded to community partners to disseminate information to the public about NC Child’s new website which allows people to check if a home could potentially contain lead or if the home has had the lead hazard removed.  Environmental Health has a lead poisoning prevention program where investigations are conducted to understand where lead is coming from if a child has an elevated blood lead level.  The funds will be used for program supplies such as kits with lead detection swabs and lead clean up supplies.  These are non-County funds.
