BACKGROUND
Gaston County Senior Games is a sanctioned program of the North Carolina Senior Games. Senior Games offers persons 50 years of age and older the opportunity to participate in individual and team sports on a local level, state level, and national. Silver Arts is another component of senior games providing a stage for the creative talents of visual, heritage, literary and performing arts. Gaston County has received $5,169 in sponsorship money and event fees for the 2021 Senior Games. The department requests the Board of Commissioners to accept and appropriate the funds to offset the expenses of Senior Games.
The start of 2021 Senior Games was delayed due to the pandemic and we will not finish this year's games until July. We request to carry forward fees and sponsorships to FY '22 to pay for expenses for 2021 Senior Games.
