BACKGROUND
Gaston County Parks and Recreation manages and maintains a system of 18 parks in including the Dallas Park. The Dallas Park was constructed in the 1970s and it includes baseball/softball fields, equestrian facilities, fishing lakes, picnic shelters, tennis courts, and a historic village. Gaston County Parks and Recreation applied for and received a 2019 Parks and Recreation Trust Fund Grant. The $250,000 grant will be matched by $250,000 in budgeted County funds. Grant funds will be used to provide new facilities in the Dallas Park including a splash pad, restroom, playground, and playground shade structure. These new amenities will provide much needed recreational activities for Gaston County citizens.
