BACKGROUND
The Gaston County Board of Commissioners approved funding in the FY 19-20 budget to complete ADA improvements at various County facilities. Due to age and continued usage of these facilities, the building and surrounding parking lots/landscaping are in disrepair and do not meet current accessibility requirements. Tindale Oliver previously conducted an in-depth study of various County Facilities and provided ADA remediation recommendations to Gaston County. Based on the results of that study, Boomerang Design, designed the needed repairs at the Dallas Branch Library and prepared bidding documents for public bidding purposes. The project was publicly advertised on March 29, 2020 and a bid opening was held April 30, 2020 with the following results:
T. C. Strickland Construction $203,000
Pinnix, Inc. $220,040
Fairwood Construction, LLC $228,265
Shiel Sexton Company, Inc. $233,000
Garanco, Inc. $238,900
Encompass Building Group $255,000
TEC Electric, LLC $259,500
Catalyst Construction $273,730
Based on the bids received, this Board Action deems T.C. Strickland Construction as the contractor submitting the lowest responsible, responsive bid. Approval of this Board Action formally selects T.C. Strickland Construction to perform the repair work associated with the project, directs the County Attorney to draft all necessary contract documents, and authorizes the County Manager or her designee to execute said documents for an amount not to exceed $203,000.00.
