BUDGET ORDINANCE IMPACT
Transfers accumulated funds from Fund Balance Appropriated Account to Waco Volunteer Fire Department.
BACKGROUND
On occasion, funds accumulate in fire district taxing accounts through the realization of past taxes being collected, property revaluation between budgets and account interest earned. This action will transfer such accumulated funds to Waco Volunteer Fire Department. Brent Gordon was in attendance at the Gaston County Fire Advisory Board Meeting on 03/19/2020 to answer questions regarding Waco’s request for approval to ask the Commissioners to release $9,931.53 of their reserve funds to them. Gordon advised that Gaston County accounts for approximately 7.4% of their total budget. Waco just entered a contract with Motorola to purchase 32 radios for $134,000.00. 7.4% of that is $9,931.53. Jeff Hovis made a motion to recommend to the Commissioners that they release $9,931.53 of their reserve funds to Waco VFD. Barry Wilson seconded the motion. There was no further discussion or opposition. The vote was unanimous. The motion carried.
