BUDGET ORDINANCE IMPACT

Transfers accumulated funds from Fund Balance Appropriated Account to Hugh’s Pond Volunteer Fire Department.

BACKGROUND

On occasion, funds accumulate in fire district taxing accounts through the realization of past taxes being collected, property revaluation between budgets and account interest earned. This action will transfer such accumulated funds to Hugh’s Pond Volunteer Fire Department. Doug Mabry was in attendance at the Gaston County Fire Advisory Board Meeting on 03/19/2020 to answer questions regarding Hugh’s Pond’s request for approval to ask the Commissioners to release $16,431.68 of their reserve funds to them. The funds will go towards the purchase of six airpacks contingent on a state grant to support the remaining cost. The grant will be announced May 15th. If they do not receive the grant, the intent is to put the funds towards paying off their radios. Barry Wilson made a motion to recommend to the Commissioners that they release $16,431.68 of reserve funds to Hugh’s Pond VFD. Brian Weyeneth seconded the motion. There was no further discussion or opposition. The vote was unanimous. The motion carried.
