BACKGROUND
The Gaston County Board of Commissioners approved funding in the FY19-20 budget to complete ADA Improvements at various County facilities. Tindale Oliver previously conducted an in-depth study of various County Sites and provided ADA remediation recommendations to Gaston County. Based on the results of that study, Robinson & Sawyer, Inc. recently designed the needed repairs and prepared bidding documents for public bidding purposes. The modifications will provide ADA compliant access to the recreational lake area, volleyball court and picnic shelter. The project was publicly advertised on October 27, 2019 and the bid opening was held November 26, 2019 with the following results:
Pinnix, Inc. Gastonia, NC $849,780
Quinn Sales, Inc. Gastonia, NC $646,814
Eagle Wood, Inc. Denver, NC $1,287,500
T.C. Strickland, Inc. Shelby, NC $621,000
Based on the bids received, this Board Action deems T.C. Strickland, Inc. as the contractor submitting the lowest responsible responsive bid. Approval of this Board Action formally selects T.C. Strickland, Inc. to perform the work associated with the project, directs the County Attorney to draft all necessary contract documents, and authorizes the County Manager or her designee to execute said documents for an amount not to exceed $621,000.
