BACKGROUND
With the assistance of a grant from the Governor’s Crime Commission (GCC), the Sheriff’s Office is able to purchase hand-held digital fingerprint scanners to outfit patrol vehicles. These will be used to identify individuals without or questionable identification.
In order to ensure standardization and compatibility with the existing digital fingerprint scanners, the Sheriff’s Office requested and received sole source approval from the granting agency (GCC). The Gaston County Uniform Guidance Policy & Procedures requires the approval of a sole source contract when the cost is above the micro-purchasing threshold ($10,000). Approval of this Board Action authorizes staff to proceed with the sole source purchase from IDEMIA, LLC.
