BUDGET ORDINANCE IMPACT
Parks & Recreation, Gaston Emergency Medical Service, Land Development, Senior Center, and Building Inspections have increased, decreased, or implemented new fees. All other fees have remained constant.
There’s an additional 3% processing fee included for all departments in which a credit card is an acceptable form of payment.
BACKGROUND
The County has a set fee structure in place for certain services that are rendered to the public. Most fee adjustments relate to these types of services as well as public record/information. State statues require that public records be available at the costs associated with their reproduction, not origination. Because of the state requirement, fees are reviewed annually to ensure that these services remain cost neutral. Attached for your review is a listing of current and proposed changes. Staff is recommending that the Board of Commissioners adopt the new fees and associated changes, effective July 1, 2018. These changes to the fee schedule do not have a substantial impact on the County Budget.
The Board of Commissioners, at its 6/12/2018 Special Meeting, approved the FY19 Fee Schedule with the following amendment:
Page 1 - Gaston Emergency Medical Services (GEMS): DOA Transport - Remove Increase - retain fee of $180 (no increase in FY19)
The Board also approved the following administrative change:
Page 2 - Animal Care and Enforcement (ACE: County License (unaltered dogs/cats) - Add a 3-year licensing period for unaltered dogs/cats at $35/per year (Administrative Change only - no change in annual fee amount)
