BACKGROUND
Gaston County will receive $1,058,090 in Home and Community Care Block Grant funds for FY 2017-2018 to provide support services to older adults. There is a Gaston County Commission appointed HCCBG Advisory Committee whose responsibility is to approve the recommended use of these funds. The Advisory Committee met on March 14, 2017 to approve the best use of these funds. On May 4, 2017, the Gaston County Health & Human Services Board reviewed the plan recommending approval of this plan. On May 23, 2017, the Gaston County Board of Commissioners approved the funding plan. On November 14, 2017, Mr. Coone received an email that the plan had been amended to increase the grant funding. The attached DAAS-732 shows the new funding amounts to be as follows: In-Home Aide - $676,366; Congregate Nutrition - $112,770; Home Delivered Meals - $182,481; and, Transportation - $86,473. The funding of this allocation, as well as the required match, is budgeted in the Department of Health & Human Services FY2017-2018 Approved Budget.
