BACKGROUND
CMVFR Board President, Chris Eason presented a Certificate of Need (attached), power point presentation and detailed handouts for Crowder’s Mountain Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Inc. This Certificate of Need is to purchase/erect a 1500 square foot metal building with three bays to be used as their new station (03). They are planning to finance through Fidelity Bank $1,000,000 at a rate of 4.0% with payments of $63,000 for 20 years. The new station is needed to lower ISO rating and to reduce response times. CMVFR currently has the apparatus to staff the station. NO TAX INCREASE will be needed. They plan to be operating out of the station by the end of 2018. There were extensive questions, answers, and discussion that included ISO rating, personnel staffing of the station, call volume, history of CMVFR station locations and economic growth in that district. Commissioner Don Grant made a motion to recommend to the Commissioners that they extend the Certificate of Need to Crowder’s Mountain Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Inc. Barry Wilson seconded the motion. There was no further discussion or opposition. The vote was unanimous. The motion carried.
