BACKGROUND
New SAE safety standards regarding the retention of ambulance stretchers and crashworthiness are in effect. Since the time of that order, we have had several instances of EMS providers and patients getting hurt. Obesity is a growing problem and EMS providers have an increased likelihood of responding to very large patients. The net cost of eleven Power Loads is budgeted in GEMS (4370) and the net cost of seven Power Loads is budgeted in Rescue Squads (4372).
