Increase Federal revenues by $98,158 and appropriate $98,158 into the Child Advocacy Program accounts.
BACKGROUND
The Gaston County Multi-Disciplinary Team formally requested to place the Gaston County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) under DHHS - Social Services Division effective December 1, 2015. The Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) is comprised of law enforcement, the district attorney's office, and other community providers. It assists the investigative team with case decisions, and to ensure that victims receive appropriate referrals to other community services. This strong community alliance promoted by the CAC helps us produce high quality child abuse investigations; joint investigations between law enforcement and CPS which reduces the number of times the child is interviewed; referrals to community services to help the child victim and his or her family; offender accountability; and medical exams for the victim child by a physician with expertise in child physical and sexual abuse.

On December 5, 2015, the BOC adopted Resolution 2015-328 to accept and appropriate grant funding in the amount of $104,501.38 for The Gaston County Child Advocacy Center from the Governor Crime Commission. This is a 2 year grant cycle and any unspent funds at the end of FY2016 can be carried forward to FY2017. Due to the program slowly getting functional in FY16, we are requesting that the remaining federal funds from year one be rolled into year two.
