BUDGET ORDINANCE IMPACT
Appropriate FY2017 revenues of $43,435 from multiple accounts into Special Programs accounts.
BACKGROUND
A carry forward account was incorrectly budgeted with an amount of $3,500 during the budget process. These accounts should have a zero balance at the beginning of the year in order for donated funds to be appropriated during the year. Therefore, in order to correct the error, we must reduce the revenue account, and increase the General Fund account to balance.

Gaston County citizens and organizations often make donations to various programs within the Department of Health and Human Services - Social Services Division. During the First Quarter of FY 2016-2017, donations totaled $43,435 for the Shelter, Child Advocacy Center, Foster Care, Energy Program and Adult Services/Nutrition program. The Shelter of Gaston County received $17,024 in donations to be used for rent deposits, utility deposits, prescribed medications, household items and other purchases to meet client and Shelter needs. Donations to Adult Services totaling $1,004 will be used throughout Adult Services (as specified by the donors) to enrich various program activities for the elderly. The Child Advocacy Center donations totaling $812 will be used to enhance the services for abused children and the Foster Care division applied and received $7,500 from the Glenn Foundation to help with needs of children coming into foster care.
