BACKGROUND

 

The City of Gastonia is seeking a Reconnecting Communities Pilot (RCP) Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). The RCP Grant Program focuses on improving access to daily needs such as jobs, education, healthcare, food, nature, recreation, and fosters equitable development and restoration. The grant can fund a study of the effects that previous transportation projects had on mobility, connectivity, access, and economic development within a community. The grant funding can also aid in studying the impacts of, or plan design activities, for mitigating existing facilities. The City of Gastonia requests the support of Gaston County for the grant application per the attached Resolution. No County funding is necessary for the grant application.
