BACKGROUND

In 2017 the NC General Assembly designated September 11th of each year as First Responder Day, making it an official state holiday pursuant to G.S. 103-4(a)(10a). The date of September 11th was chosen in recognition of the sacrifices made by first responders at the World Trade Center attack in New York.

The proclamation recognizes the 24th anniversary of September 11th and commemorates this year’s First Responder Day.
