BACKGROUND
Following World War II, several local business leaders formed the Gastonia Industrial Realty Corporation to bring industry to Gastonia. The Corporation has long since served its purpose and no longer operates. Its remaining owners are formally winding up its affairs and dissolving the Corporation. During this process, it was discovered that two small parcels were left off land sales made by the Corporation:
1. Parcel # 219173, 0.38 acres, $1,900 Tax Value
2. Parcel # 104951, Less than 0.01 acres, $10 Tax Value
The owner would like to donate the properties to the County, rather than abandon them.
POLICY IMPACT
If adopted, the County Manager would be authorized to accept donation of the properties without cost to the County and to execute any agreements to carry out that acceptance.
