This amends the Adopted FY27 Personnel Schedule to add one full-time position to the Gaston County Police Department. This grant-funded position is temporary and will end upon expiration of grant on September 30, 2027.

BACKGROUND

Gaston County was awarded a North Carolina Governor’s Crime Commission grant to support the Adult Treatment Court (ATC).

The Gaston County Adult Treatment Court will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated, client-centered support and accountability. The presiding Judge will lead court sessions, provide judicial oversight, and ensure consistent responses to participant progress. The ATC Coordinator will manage daily operations, facilitate communication, and coordinate services among team members.

A Case Manager will conduct individualized assessments, support case plan goals, and monitor compliance. Phoenix Counseling Center, the treatment provider, will deliver evidence-based substance use and behavioral health services tailored to participant needs.

The District Attorney’s and Public Defender’s Offices will participate in bi-weekly case staffing, ensuring balanced legal input that supports public safety and rehabilitation. Probation/Community Supervision will provide supervision, enforce court requirements, and share progress updates. Gaston County Police will support enforcement and safety efforts.
