BACKGROUND
During its meeting on May 26, 2026, the Board of Commissioners voted to enter into a closed session pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a)(1) Confidential Information; (3) Attorney-Client Privilege; (6) Personnel Matters; (10) To view a recording released pursuant to G.S. 132-1.4A. A portion of the closed session discussed ongoing litigation, including Bloom v Gaston County.
Pursuant to GS 143-318.9(e), a general account of the closed session was created by the Clerk, but is not subject to public release because it is subject to attorney-client privilege and “public inspection would frustrate the purpose of a closed session.”
POLICY IMPACT
This item would authorize the County Attorney to release the portion of general account of the May 26, 2026 closed session in accordance with a forthcoming protective order preserving the confidentiality of the general account.
