BACKGROUND

A property owner on Crowders Creek Church Road requested the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) close a portion of Crowders Creek Church Road.  The road is a state-maintained road.  Before the NCDOT decides on the request, the NCDOT needs Gaston County to state whether or not closing the road will adversely impact the health, safety and well being of the surrounding area.  Gaston County is unable to unilaterally close the road, as Gaston County does not own or maintain the road.

Gaston County Staff believes that the road closure will not adversely impact the surrounding area and does not anticipate emergency services to be negatively affected by the proposed road closure.
