BACKGROUND
The Gaston County Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health Division received additional State Grant funds from the NC Division of Public Health for the Prescription Drug Overdose Program. DHHS staff works closely with the Gaston County Healthcare Commission’s Substance Abuse coalition to ensure that residents are aware of the resources available for opioid addiction. The coalition provides prevention education to the community. These funds will be used to support the work of educating professionals and pharmacists on safer and proper prescribing of opioids. Funds will also be used to provide education on Naloxone distribution in the community. These are Non-County funds.
