BUDGET ORDINANCE IMPACT
A portion of the funds are included in the FY’23 Budget for lawn maintenance services from March 1 - June 30, 2023. Additional funds for lawn maintenance services will be requested in the FY’24 Budget.
BACKGROUND
Gaston County Parks and Recreation recently advertised for contractors to submit proposals for Region C lawn maintenance. Region C includes six parks and eight grounds sites primarily located in eastern Gaston County. A mandatory pre-proposal meeting was held on January 26, 2023 with eight contractors attending. The contractors included Bean Brothers Landscaping, Calhoun’s Lawn Maintenance, Mullis Lawn & Landscaping, Home Turf Lawn and Landscaping, CCK Lawncare & Landscaping, Grass Hopper Lawn Service, Two Rivers Outdoor Services, and Wise Lawnmower Company. At the meeting, the Request for Proposals was discussed in detail including proposal evaluation criteria and information to be included with proposals. Sealed proposals were received and opened on February 16, 2023. The following companies submitted proposals: Bean Brothers Landscaping, CCK Lawncare and Landscaping, Grass Hopper Lawn Service, and Home Turf Lawn and Landscaping. County staff evaluated and scored all proposals based on evaluation criteria and information included in proposals. Based on the evaluation, County staff recommends awarding the Region C contract to Grass Hopper Lawn Service.
