BACKGROUND

At its Regular Meeting of July 22, 2025, the Board of Commissioners voted to cut the five Sheriff’s Office Positions previously approved in the FY26 Budget, and to revisit the request in December, 2025, at which time the positions may be considered for reinstatement, contingent upon the submission of sufficient justification and supporting data from the Sheriff’s Office regarding the Courthouse staffing needs and courtroom activity.  The motion carried 5-2.
