BACKGROUND
Gaston County, through the Hope United Survivor Network, has been awarded a one-year GCC grant in the amount of $97,297.66 to support salary and partial benefits for a Victim Witness Assistance Coordinator, trained to handle the sensitive issues that arise in domestic violence and sexual assault cases.
The Victim Witness Assistance Coordinator will be a resource working in the Gaston County District Attorney’s Office to coordinate assistance to victims with local service providers, shelter, safety plans, justice system navigation (e.g. procedures, case status, and court appearances), crisis intervention, and information.
Grant period of performance: 10/1/24 - 9/30/25.
