BACKGROUND

GCC is a State sub-recipient of a Justice Assistance Grant, a federal formula grant funded by the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance. GCC makes awards based on competitive applications to local law enforcement agencies. Funding is targeted to assist local law enforcement efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence and to improve the administration of the criminal justice system. GCC JAG funding is to be used for equipment across 5 areas that GCC designates as the most critical tools to ensure the safety of both officers and the public:  radios; cameras, body armor; mobile data terminals, and non-lethal weapons.  GCPD will purchase 800 MHz radios.
