BACKGROUND

 

To commend Mr. James Ijames, Bessemer City native, upon his extraordinary accomplishments as author, American playwright, actor, professor, and Pulitzer Prize Winner.  His Broadway stageplay "Fat Ham" made its debut in New York earlier this year. He graduated from Hunter Huss High School. He was raised in Bessemer City, received his B.A. in Drama from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and earned his Master in Fine Arts in Acting from Temple University.  Mr. Ijames will be in Gastonia on Monday November 11, 2024 for a special event and book signing. This event is sponsored by the Gastonia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Piedmont Chapter of The Links, Inc.
