BACKGROUND

Gaston County GEMS seeks to enter into a 60-month agreement with Samsara, Inc. for an integrated fleet and asset management solution. The system includes asset tracking devices, vehicle telematics, vehicle cameras, environmental monitors, associated hardware, and access to Samsara's hosted software platform, including software updates, support, maintenance, and system integrations.

The agreement includes 300 asset tags, 65 vehicle IoT gateways, 65 dual-facing dash cameras, 103 AI multi-cams, 60 environmental monitors, and associated equipment and software licenses. The quote identifies a $712,410 license cost over the five-year term, with hardware and accessories included.

Samsara is available through competitively solicited Sourcewell Contract No. 102924-SAM. Accordingly, the County will utilize the cooperative purchasing contract in lieu of conducting a separate County solicitation.

POLICY IMPACT

In accordance with Gaston County Purchasing Policy, Board of Commissioners approval is required for Other Service Contracts of $90,000 and above.
