BACKGROUND

The Sheriff’s Office budget includes funds for replacement Tasers. AXON’s Taser 60 program allows for the purchase of 60 X26P Tasers. The current Taser inventory (X26 model) will no longer be under warranty and serviceable after December 2019. This purchase includes X26P Tasers and spare products to be paid in installments of $17,460 over five years (grand total $87,300).  This is not a lease-purchase contract. The Sheriff’s Office will own the equipment outright from day one. AXON Enterprise, Inc. is the sole distributor and manufacturer of all Taser brand products and equipment. Approval of this board action allows the Sheriff’s Office to purchase the Taser 60 program from AXON Enterprise, Inc.
