BACKGROUND

Each year in January the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services adjusts allowable EMS reimbursement rates.  To follow our mandate to maximize user revenue and to reduce reliance on General Funds, we typically adjust our rates effective February 1st each year.  Revenue projection due to increased fees is not a linear formula due to factors of rates, reimbursements, contractual allowances, and clients’ co-pays.  However, GEMS projects an increase of approximately $1,500,000 based on the increase in revenue from last year.
