BACKGROUND
The Gaston County Facilities Management Division is committed to providing services in the most economical and efficient manner that comply with all local, state, and federal guidelines. The existing building automation system is a proprietary system installed in 1997 and is maintained by Schneider Electric. The system operates all the automated building systems throughout Gaston County facilities. Public Works/Facilities Management received Phase 1 funding for this replacement work during the FY27 budget process. This Phase 1 portion will address the main system at the Courthouse and Mechanical Plant. The replacement system is backward compatible and will be able to keep all the remaining County facility systems operational as we move through this 3 phase/3-year replacement process. Due to the existing system being a Schneider Electric system, Schneider Electric is the only vendor that can install the upgraded system as it is an upgrade to their proprietary system.
Approval of this Board Action authorizes Public Works and Facilities Management staff to move forward with a sole source purchase of the necessary services provided by Schneider Electric and authorizes the County Manager, or his designee, to execute any necessary contracts and/or purchase orders for the proprietary services required to perform these building automation system replacements.
