BUDGET ORDINANCE IMPACT

Appropriate $37,500 from Fund Balance

BACKGROUND

The SecurPASS Whole Body Scanner has a five year service agreement to cover parts and labor on the system. According the manufacturer, Virtual Imaging, the life expectancy of the system is ten years. To ensure the system is covered through the life expectancy, it is recommended that an extended five year parts and labor service agreement is purchased.  The service agreement cost per year is $7,500 to begin in 2023 through 2028. Virtual Imaging has agreed to provide software upgrades at no charge, including providing hardware supports for software upgrade, as long as the Gaston County Jail owns the SecurPASS Whole Body Scanner.
