BUDGET ORDINANCE IMPACT
Transfer ownership of vehicle #310 to Gaston College.
BACKGROUND
Gaston County has designated Vehicle #310 (VIN# JTDKDTB31E1567101) to be in poor condition, uneconomical for continued use and as having met the established surplus criteria. This vehicle was previously declared surplus and authorized for sale via Resolution #2023-257 adopted July 27, 2023. Vehicle #310 is a 2014 Toyota Prius with approximately 158,980 miles. This vehicle was previously assigned to Gaston County DSS. Gaston College has requested this surplus vehicle. Pursuant to N.C.G.S.?160A-274, this Board Action authorizes the County Manager to transfer this vehicle to Gaston College for $1.00. In the event the vehicle is not in acceptable condition at the time of transfer, substitute of another, similar surplus vehicle is not permitted. Further, this transfer is conditioned upon the understanding that all expenses including, but not limited to, repairs, motor fuels and lubricants, vehicle tag, inspections, and any other costs associated with the purchase and ownership will be the sole responsibility of Gaston College. Gaston College agrees to use the vehicle for official agency use, and the vehicle may not be sold, or title transferred to another person or entity for a minimum of two years after purchase from Gaston County. The vehicle is purchased in "as is, where is" condition except County owned equipment and decaling will be removed. Gaston County does not warrant in any way the condition of future operation/reliability of said vehicle.
