BACKGROUND

Gaston County will receive $1,362,226 in Home and Community Care Block Grant funds for FY2026-2027 to provide support services to older adults.  The Home and Community Care Block Grant Advisory Committee met on March 10, 2026, to approve the best use of the funds, which allocates funds as follows: In-Home Aide $721,980; Home Delivered Meals $449,535; Transportation $122,600; Adult Day Care $64,024 and Respite Group Care $4,087.  The Gaston County Health and Human Services Board reviewed the plan and voted on May 7, 2026, to recommend approval of the FY2026-2027 funding plan.  The allocation of this funding, as well as the County’s required match, is included in the Department of Health and Human Services FY2026-2027 Budget.  The County’s required match is $151,358. (Note: In the event the grant funding expires, the County shall not assume budgetary responsibility for the program, or any personnel associated with the program.)
