BACKGROUND
GE Properties, LLC has agreed to sell a total of 10.37 acres located at 803 N. Oakland St, Gastonia, to include parcels 104358 (4.52 acres), 104359 (5.11 acres), and 104364 (.74 acres), and associated structures to Gaston County for a total purchase price of $7,500,000 and other considerations. Closing costs are estimated at $50,000. The vacant land and warehouse are adjacent to property owned by Gaston County, which was purchased for the public safety campus. Gaston County Board of Commissioners approved Board Action 2023-183 on May 25, 2023, to purchase the adjacent County-owned property. The properties are centrally located in Gaston County with multiple ingress and egress routes, provide additional acreage to accommodate combined public safety operations, are close to downtown and central to other services. ARPA funds are being appropriated via a separate Board Action and Budget Change Request (BCR) (File ID 24-020).
Approval of this Board Action authorizes Gaston County to purchase said properties. Approval of this Board Action also authorizes the County Attorney to draft any necessary documents for the property purchase and the County Manager, or her designee, to execute said documents on behalf of Gaston County.
