BACKGROUND

The County conducts formal and informal procurements for goods, equipment, services, and construction, resulting in the award of contracts through competitive solicitation processes. Gaston County currently does not have a formal administrative procedure governing vendor protest arising from competitive procurement.

The purpose of the Bid Protest Policy is to establish a clear, consistent, and transparent process for the submission, review, and Resolution of bid protests related to sealed bids, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs). The policy defines the procedures, timelines, and standards governing bid protests to help ensure fair and equitable treatment of all bidders, promote accountability in the procurement process, and minimize delays in contract awards.
