BACKGROUND
The NC Envirothon is a hands-on environmental science and natural resources competition for high school and middle school students, fostering environmental responsibility in our next generation of leaders. Participation takes place at three levels: area, state and national. Teams study and train prior to the competition to be tested on their knowledge of wildlife, aquatics, forestry, soils, and current environmental issues. A total of 49 Middle School teams and 51 High School teams competed at this year’s NC Envirothon Competition, representing Area level winners from across the state.
