BACKGROUND

Each year the County receives Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Grant funds from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety for various Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Programs (JCPC) within the County. For Fiscal Year 2026, the County is required to return $1,375 for unspent grant funds received for the Psychological Testing Program. These funds were unspent on June 30, 2026 as they didn’t have the assessments ordered by the court and reverted into fund balance at the close of the fiscal year. These funds cannot be carried forward and are required to be returned to the N.C. Department of Public Safety. This Board Action appropriates $1,375.00 out of Fund Balance to submit the refund to the State.
