BACKGROUND

On November 18, 2021, Governor Cooper signed into law the 2021- 2022 North Carolina budget. The budget included a special appropriation of $50,000 for the Gaston County Police to be used to purchase public safety equipment. All funding will be used to replace obsolete equipment.

(1)                      Replace one obsolete Bomb Technician suit. Federal Standards require that two functioning suits must be in service to maintain certification.

(2)                      Replace the Forensic Recovery of Evidence Device-DX workstation that secures, saves and analyzes data from hard drives and other media carriers.  The current system is 8 years old and outdated.
