BACKGROUND
The North Carolina Governor’s Crime Commission awarded the Gaston County Police Department $50,000 to purchase eight handheld Viper radios.
The purpose of this project is to enhance officer safety, strengthen emergency response, and improve public trust by equipping the Gaston County Police Department’s Community Policing Division. These radios will provide secure, interoperable communication between patrol officers and other first responders, enabling real-time coordination during emergencies, critical incidents, and routine operations.
