BACKGROUND

In the past year, we have experienced double-digit growth in travel to our County. Even given these improvements, we still have the capacity to attract additional weekend hotel business and it has become necessary for Travel & Tourism to establish a new position to focus on building this demand.  The creation of this new position will allow us to better serve our hospitality partners (hotels, conference center, athletic facilities) by focusing on selling our destination to sports groups, social/military/education/religious/fraternal groups and car clubs who tend to compete and gather during the Friday - Sunday timeframe.  Along with sales duties, this new position will also play an important role in representing Gaston County at industry events, maintaining our client database, overseeing media schedules and running site visits. This position will assist in implementing Envisio and Priority Based Budgeting for our department.
