BACKGROUND

National Peace Officer’s Week is held annually during the month of May to honor all peace officer’s throughout the nation.  Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Peace Officer’s Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others and to those that continue to serve daily.  The Gaston County Chief’s Association has designated May 12-18, 2024 as Law Enforcement Week in Gaston County and designates May 15, 2024 as Peace Officer’s Memorial Day.
