BACKGROUND

Gaston County Parks and Recreation recently advertised for contractors to submit proposals for Region B lawn maintenance.  Region B includes a total of nineteen county grounds sites - thirteen County buildings and six parks.  Contractors who requested to be on the County’s mailing list for vendors received notification of the request for proposals and two legal ads were placed in the Gaston Gazette to notify potential bidders.  A mandatory pre-proposal meeting was held on February 2, 2018 and sealed proposals were received on February 21, 2018.  Proposals were received from Corry Landscape Management of Gaffney SC, Ripps Lawn Care of Lincolnton NC, Fairgreen Lawn Care of Gastonia NC, Heaven’s Lawn Care of Gastonia NC, and Calhoun’s Lawn Maintenance of Gastonia NC.  Staff evaluated proposals based on the evaluation criteria and recommends awarding the Region B contact to Calhoun’s Lawn Maintenance effective April 1, 2017.  The initial term of the contract will be from April 1 - June 30, 2018 and the prorated amount for this contract is $29,820.
