BACKGROUND

On May 25, 2023 the Board approved Resolution 2023-160 which allocated $644,928 in Opioid Settlement funds for the Community Paramedicine Program that will be managed by the Gaston Emergency Medical Services Department. The Community Paramedicine Program was deemed by the County as qualifying under Strategy 7 (Naloxone Distribution). The state recently reviewed our spending authorization and determined Strategy 3 (Recovery Support Services) was a better fit for the program and asked that we change it.

This Board Action, if approved, changes the strategy of the Community Paramedicine Program from Strategy 7 to Strategy 3 as per the state's request and the attached Spending Authorization and Budget Change Request.  There is no change in the amount or use of the funds.
