BACKGROUND

Gaston County will receive $1,321,780 in Home and Community Care Block Grant funds for FY2022-2023 to provide support services to older adults. The Home and Community Care Block Grant Advisory Committee met on March 8, 2022 to approve the best use of these funds, which allocates funds as follows: In-Home Aide, $687,327; Congregate Nutrition, $118,960; Home Delivered Meals, $356,881; Transportation, $118,960; and Adult Day Care, $39,652. The Gaston County Health and Human Services Board reviewed the plan and voted on May 5, 2022 recommending approval of the FY2022- 2023 funding plan. The allocation of this funding, as well as the County’s required match, is included in the Department of Health and Human Services FY2022-2023 Budget. (Note: In the event the grant funds expire, the County shall not assume budgetary responsibility for the program or any personnel associated with the program.)
