BACKGROUND

The Sheriff’s Office was awarded a $48,723 grant from the 2019 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) by the federal Bureau of Justice. The Sheriff’s Office has elected to use a portion of the grant to implement a property packaging system in the jail. This system vacuum-seals and secures personal property in a 100% tamper evident package. With the vacuum seal technology, this will eliminate the need to expand the property room while ensuring property is kept secure. CPI/Guardian is the sole provider of this patented system. Approval of the Board Action authorizes staff to proceed with the sole source purchase from CPI/Guardian.
