BACKGROUND

Chief Craig Huffstetler e-mailed a Certificate of Need (attached) and information (attached) regarding Union Road’s request to acquire approval for the purchase of a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe Special Service Vehicle at a cost of $36,718.40 (attached).  The full amount will be financed through the Local Government Federal Credit Union at a rate of 2.25%.  Payments of $13,000 will be made annually for 3 years.  No budget increase will be needed for this purchase.  This vehicle will replace a 2004 Ford F-350, 4 x 4, Crew Cab, 6.0 L Diesel with 95,000 miles.  Union Road anticipates mechanical issues with this vehicle and plans to sell it, with all monies from the sale going toward the payoff of the new vehicle. Also, the new vehicle will be better suited for the department’s operations.  This matter was voted on by Fire Advisory Board members at the Fire Association Meeting held on July 18, 2016 and it was unanimous that the Fire Advisory Board recommend to the Commissioners that they extend the Certificate of Need to Union Road Fire Department.
