BUDGET ORDINANCE IMPACT
Increase federal grant revenue by $7,000. Increase fund balance appropriation by $200. Increase program project expenditures (human services function) by $7,200.
BACKGROUND
The Gaston County Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health Division received Federal Grant funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the Environmental Health Healthy Wells Project. This Healthy Wells grant will strengthen Environmental Health capacity for detecting, preventing, and controlling environmental health hazards through data-driven and evidence-based approaches. The funds will be used for the purchase of sample bottles and other miscellaneous expenses related to sample testing. These are Non-County funds.
The additional $200 fund balance appropriation is to correct the original budgeted project expenditures. The full amount of federal grant revenue was budgeted during the budget process, but $200 in expenditures was not. This appropriation ensures that budgeted grant revenue equals the budgeted grant expenditures so that the grant dollars are not offsetting County expenditures.
